2011 SPRING JUNIOR PROGRAMMING
The National Squash Academy (NSA) is Canada’s first and only center dedicated to growing the sport of squash from the ground up. The NSA currently has over 80 juniors in our programs from 6 year old beginners to 18 year old National champions, all training in a fun, energetic and inclusive environment with world class coaches and facilities. Our programs are broken up into 3 main streams based on Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Plan – High Performance, Skill Development and Fundamentals, all of which are created and overseen by Squash Director Jonathon Power. See below for our spring offerings and also check out summer camp section of this website – we truly have something for everyone.
High Performance/Skill Development
The NSA’s High Performance program is geared towards those juniors 12-18 that have chosen squash as their main sport and are competing at least a provincial gold level in their age group. Skill Development athletes will be between 9-15 and have at least one year of competitive playing experience at a provincial silver level.
Both of our HP and SD spring sessions will run 5 weeks from May 9th – June 16th. As the spring is the competitive off-season for squash, our programming will be focused on two main areas – technical change/refinement and off-court fitness and movement. Juniors in this program will also be encouraged to spend this time period cross training in other sports and playing matches in the NSA House League or on T&D teams.
Groups will train for two hours daily and work in small groups/one-on-one primarily with Jamie Nicholls and Ian Power on technical ball striking and footwork as well as build up endurance, strength and functional movement skills in the ATP high performance training center.

Fundamentals Program
The NSA’s Fundamentals program is designed to introduce young athletes to the basics of squash in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. Although geared towards squash-specific skills, the Fundamentals program will also be heavily focused on acquiring basic athletic skills to compete in any and all sports. This includes hand-eye coordination, balance, spatial awareness, speed, strength, flexibility and footwork.
Athletes participating in this program will be anywhere from 6-12 years old and will be very new to the game of squash – no experience is necessary, just a willingness to have fun and learn the game.
Sessions Offered:
April 3rd – May 22nd
Sundays 2:30-3:30
Cost: $100 for 9 weeks or $15 weekly drop-in
Registration/information: Greg Hutner at greg@nationalsquashacademy.com
NSA Fall programming will be available in Late June. See you on the courts!
